I am back with a q and a meet the series. I am so excited to bring it back, as i love doing these type of series, because you can discover new bloggers/influencers but also gain some new tips and advice!
Today, a blogger named Dawn, the face behind foreveratwentysomething, kindly collaborated with me on this blog post, and i am super excited!!! I will be leaving all her links below to her personal and to her makeup page! (she is super talented!) Thank you so much!
Hi Dawn, thank you so much for agreeing to answering these questions!
Q: How did you first discover blogging?
A: I never really thought of it as blogging, I just used to love to write but was never sure anyone would ever want to read it. I started off with a blogspot page and literally would just write about anything I thought was interesting.
Q: What made you decide to become a beauty editor for the daily struggle?
A: I started off just writing one or two beauty posts a month and then I just enjoyed it so much I wanted to do more and more and I was lucky enough that the daily struggle enjoyed my pieces and had a space for a beauty editor.
Q: What is your favourite topic to write about?
A: I love all things make up and skincare, but I do enjoy writing lifestyle posts too.
Q: Do you have any plans for foreverattwentysomething in 2020?
A: My blog and my Instagram have grown so much over 2019 and I am so grateful because I put a lot of time and effort into everything I do, so I would love for it to continue to grow, write more content and try more and more products.
Q: What is the biggest thing you have learnt since being an influencer?
A: You don’t need to say yes to everything because then it isn’t genuine, I only try products I really love and I am always honest when trialling items.
Q: What does a typical day look like for you?
A: Blogging unfortunately isn’t my day job, so I work Monday to Friday and have to find time to write in between everything else I have going on, but I enjoy it so much that it never feels a chore to me. Of a weekend I like to plan and schedule my blogs and work on new content. Other than that I enjoy going to the gym and training as well as catching up with my friends over coffee or dinner.
Q:Who are some of your favourite creators?
A: There are so many people I follow on Instagram that I love it would be hard to choose just one, but I love authentic, genuine bloggers (who actually write!) not just claim they’re a blogger, because as much as I love to interact with people over Instagram, I do love to read other peoples content too.
Q: How would you encourage someone to start out on social media?
A: Be yourself, don’t try and copy or mimic anyone else, find your own style and don’t worry too much over number of likes and followers, just put the effort in and let it progress naturally.
Q: What piece of content from the daily struggle has been your favourite?
A: I loved doing the festival and summer posts this year as I enjoyed being creative and thinking outside the box.
Q: I LOVE your makeup looks, when did you first get into makeup?
A: I have always loved make up from a little girl, but only ever saw it as a hobby. But over time my passion has grown and I love everything, from trying new products to trying out different looks.
Q: What is your favourite product to use?
A: I love false eyelashes, I never feel like my make up is done without them.
Q: Favourite high end/drugstore product?
A: High end – Nars foundation, it is amazing, great coverage, longlasting and comes in loads of different shades so suits everyone. Drugstore – so so many!! But my favourite at the mine is the Barry M lip liners, they are less than £5 and they are identical to MAC – loads of different shades and super easy to apply.
Q: Do you remember your first makeup item?
A: I grew up with a big sister and would often raid her stash, but I remember the first item that was just mine and it was one of those roller ball lip glosses, I thought I was UNREAL.
Q: What coverage do you like in a foundation?
A: I like quite a full coverage look, especially for a night out, and I hate having to touch up my make up if I don’t have too.
Q: Any makeup tips for anyone out there?
A: Don’t be afraid to try different colours and styles – there are no rules when it comes to make up!! And always use a setting powder.
Q: Makeup look you look back on and think oh no?
A: Oh my goodness, so many!! But I don’t mind, it adds to character!! But over plucked eyebrows and heavy black eyeliner was not my best look.
Q: What brands do you want to try but haven’t yet?
A: I’m really keen to try Fenty and Hourglass but they’re both expensive, so I need to decide what I really want to purchase first!
Q: Do you wear fake lashes?
A: Every day!
Q: Are there any makeup product you can’t leave the house without wearing?
A: Lipstick and Liner
Q: Most cherished product?
A: At the minute, my NARS palette, I just love it and I use every single item.
Q: Beauty product you buy the most of?
A: Concealer and lashes, I go through a lot!
Q: Fave makeup look you enjoy doing?
A I love pink eyes and flawless glowy skin!
Q: Fave shop to buy from?
A: Superdrug! Perfect for drugstore make up
Q:What do you love about makeup?
A: It makes me so happy! I can be as expressive as I want, and it makes me feel confident.
Q: If you could buy from one brand, who would you pick?
A: Mac – purely for the lipsticks, I’ve never found a lipstick to match up to them.
Q: What celebrity would you like to do their makeup?
A: Oh wow, Kim Kardashian would be the dream!
Q: who inspired you to do makeup?
A: No one in particular, I was never the pretty girl when I was younger so I would read magazines and cut out all my favourite make up looks and try to copy them, at first to make me feel better and to give me a little confidence, but as I have grown up I have realised you don’t need a pile of make up on your face to be pretty or to be confident but you can still enjoy wearing it! Nowadays, I wear it for me and only me.
Q:: What is next for your makeup journey?
I have a course in October which I am so so excited for! If a little nervous, but I cant wait to learn new skills and then put them into practice.
