How to protect your mental health during coronavirus and updates!

Hi Guys,

long time no see, i have been very busy working behind the scenes on my new article magazine focussing on influencers, celebs, royals and artist/bands. This is called encore pop and influencer and i have loved doing it, it has been such an exciting project. You can check the page out here: http://encorepopandinfluencer.wordpress.com

I wanted to do a blog post on here bout how to protect your mental health through this coronavirus pandemic and this uncertain time.

Limit news:

It’s tempting to check for updates, but checking several times a day can keep us in an escalated state of anxiety. If this helps, you should, turn off notifications from the news articles. Also limit what you read, make sure they come from trusted sources such as the BBC, Sky News and the government website.

keep active:

Whether you want to do a home workout, meditation or yoga, make sure to keep exercising. When you stay active, this can relieve the anxiety that is in your mind and body. Regular exercise can help boost your mood. If you can and you are not self isolating, go for a walk even if it’s only to go to the shops to get some esstentials.

Mute words:

If you are a scroller of social media, on twitter you can mute certain words and hashtags where you don’t want to see them. You can mute the trending hashtags where you don’t want to see the updates, this can reduce the anxiety surrounding what people are saying about the outbreak.

Focus on what you can control:

You can’t control everything in this outbreak but you can take things to prevent you from this. This is what you can control:

  • Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who appears to be sick.
  •  Wash your hands well and frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  •  Use alcohol-based hand sanitiser when soap and water isn’t readily available.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Stay home if you develop cold or flu-like symptoms.
  • Avoid nonessential travel to areas with active COVID-19 outbreaks.

Self care:

Take some time out for yourself to completely come off of your phone and just focus on you. This is so important if you are feeling anxious about the pandemic.

Have a bubble bath: Have a warm bubble bath and perhaps watch a series/tv show/movie on netflix and just shut your mind off of the news.

Listen to music: Listen to some upbeat music and just focus on your surroundings, do some crazy dancing if you like.

Exercise: If you enjoy doing some exercise you can do some more exercise.

Volunteer to help others in need:

deliver food, drop off supplies, check in with elders by phone. This can help you feel like you’re doing something productive.

I hope this can help you through this strange time, my dm’s are always open if you need someone to chat to over on instagram and twitter, i am always here for a chat:
